The God Who Breaks Open
This
is what the LORD says to Cyrus His anointed, whose right hand I have grasped to
subdue nations before him, to disarm kings, to open the doors before him, so
that the gates will not be shut: “I will go before you and level the mountains; I will
break down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron. will give you
the treasures of darkness, and the hidden riches of secret places, so that you
may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
Micah 2:13
One
who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the
gate and go out by it. Their king will
pass through before them, the LORD as their leader.
Phillip.
1:6
And
I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his
work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
When
God breaks the barriers, He will break them for good. When God opens a door it
will always remain open. When God closes a door, no power in Heaven or earth
can open it. God gives only absolute breakthroughs, not partial ones. Do you
want to know how God opened the doors for His anointed servant Cyrus? Please
read Isaiah 45:1-5. In verse 1,
God declares that He would open the two-leaved gates in such a
way that it will never be closed again. Why they will not shut again is
explained in verse 2. “I
will break to pieces the gates of brass and cut asunder the bars of iron!
Please understand! It is Satan's job and full
time vocation to hinder the progress of the people of God, put a stumbling
block to stop God’s people from attaining their goal in God. He will raise all kinds of forces from within
and without to cause you to loose out on life. He will raise all kinds of barriers
before them to discourage them. He will bring Governments and armies to keep
God’s people from possessing their inheritance. We see this throughout the
history of mankind, So, do you sit and
weep all day long? Beat your chest and lament? Keep complaining about Satan all
the time? Keep murmuring against God and accusing other people for your
failures? Go into deep depression and decide to end your life? Remain sullen
and ill-tempered and make life to your family and people around you?
NO!
There is an easy way. Join the army of God. Get in line with the heroes who
accomplished mighty things by God and for God.
·
Satan hindered Adam and Eve from
continuing their close fellowship and relationship with God. He got them
evicted (thrown out or expelled) from the Garden of Eden. Satan left them naked
and exposed. They never attained their purpose in life. But God came to their
rescue, killed an animal and clothed them and gave them the promise of a
Saviour. They preferred to listen to Satan’s words more than they did to God’s
word.
·
The children of Israel were
unable to break loose the bondage of slavery of Pharaoh. The hindrance was lack
of knowledge of God, lack of courage, lack of a good Spiritual Leader and the
lack of faith. The authority of Pharaoh
was a barrier before them. But God broke Pharaoh’s power to rule over His
people and gave them a breakthrough.
·
Even after they came out, they faced
a formidable barrier called the Red sea . They
could not retreat because of the immense army of Pharaoh. When they looked up
to God, He broke the barrier by dividing the Red Sea .
By letting the people pass through that sea and using the same sea to destroy
the enemy, He gave them a breakthrough victory.
·
When Joshua took over as the leader
of Israel, he faced the frightening flood of River Jordan, the insurmountable
walls of Jericho, the oncoming armies of 31 kings, the giants, the terrain and
all these obstacles, one after the other hindered their progress all the time.
But in each instance, God intervened and gave them miraculous breakthroughs.
·
Though David had already been chosen
by God as the King of Israel and anointed for that purpose by Samuel, Saul was
blocking his way to the throne. Saul had the authority of a king, his army’s
strength, his people’s strength and other resources to keep him from preventing
David from claiming the throne. But God broke all barriers in the life of David
and gave him a breakthrough victory. Later David declared, “The Lord has broken
forth upon my enemies before me as the breech of waters” (2Sam.
5:20).
·
Joseph’ incarceration, probably for
life, for a crime he had not committed came to a spectacular end when he was
summoned to the royal court of the Pharaoh, the most powerful person in the
then world. He was anointed as the second most powerful person next only to the
Emperor. He was able to get back his
family who he thought he had lost forever.
·
After the arrival of Holy Spirit the disciples were emboldened and
started preaching Christ’s message openly. Peter’s famous speech added fuel to
the fire. This exponential growth in the numbers of the new sect combined by
the talk of a new king alarmed the Pharisees and the Herod’s royal house alike.
The Pharisees decided to nip this movement in the bud and had stoned Stephen to
death. Herod for his part decided to make an example and had James killed. When
he realized the assassination was welcomed by the Jewish old guard, he decided
to kill Peter also and had him arrested. So Peter was kept in prison, but the
church was fervently praying to God for him. As Peter was sleeping with his
hands bound between two soldiers, an angel came through the locked doors and
woke him up. His chains fell off, the prison doors opened themselves and Peter
was out on the street before he knew what was happening.
God
promised Moses and the children of Israel
that He will cause all enemies who rise against them to be smitten before their
face (Deut. 28:7). He
promised Joshua that no man will stand before him - to stop him from
accomplishing what God had promised (Josh 1:5). He
is the same God who promised Jacob that until He fulfilled what He promised
him, He will neither leave him nor forsake him (Genesis
) 28.15 In Isaiah
57:14 He commanded every stumbling block to
be removed from the way of His people. He declared in Zeph. 1:3
that He will consume every stumbling block that is set before His people. He is
the ONE WHO promised that, no weapon formed against you would prosper.
He
is the same unchanging God whom we serve even today! He is the Good and Loving
Father who is interested in your wellbeing, in your advancement in life, in
your promotions, in your victory, in your prosperity
Job
declares in Job 9:12: Behold, He takes away; who can turn Him back? Who will
say to Him, What are You doing? In 11:10, If He passes through and shuts up, or
gathers together, then who can turn Him back? And in 42:2 I know that You can
do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
You
should have the faith to declare, whatever God had appointed for you, God will
fulfill it somehow.
You
may be facing lots of hindrances in life.
- Hindrances
in living a peaceful family life.
- Hindrances
in enjoying good health.
- Hindrances
in financial needs fulfilled.
- Hindrances
in advancement in business,
- Hindrances
in children education, marriage
- Hindrance
in your married life

Whatever
hindrance or multiple stumbling blocks or barriers you may face in life, Jesus
can break those barriers and lead you through an open gate. For a God who can
make man out of mud, wine out of water, everything out of nothing and life out
of death, your obstacle in life is but a simple matter. For a God who can split
oceans for you, break mountains, destroy forts, shake Heaven and earth, bring
Manna from Heaven, stop the sun and moon in their track, rebuke the wind and
waves and make the earth rotate anti-clock-wise, your hurdles are nothing.
Prophet
Micah also adds, even after breaking your barriers, God wouldn’t leave you on
your own and go away. He would continue to be your King to lead you and be your
Captain to march before you in war, because He is known as the Lord of Hosts and
Commander of the armies of heaven and He will let you go through open gates, as
if you own the whole world. Yes, that is YOU!
Jesus
caused the temple curtain to tear from top to bottom. He broke down the wall of
hostility between groups of people. He tossed away the grave stone and rose victoriously
and crushed Satan’s head so that he cannot raise it again. You shall know the
truth and the truth will free you, He said. (Luke 4:18) You have been made free
from the hold of sin. You have been bought with a price - through Christ, the
mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the
promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the
transgressions committed under the first covenant (Hebrews 9:15). Don’t allow
Satan to enslave you again (Gal 5:1). The power of God that raised Jesus from
among the dead is available to you today. This is the good news for this day!
God
is going to break every barrier in your life and give you a breakthrough
victory. Barrier means obstruction, hindrance. But whatever may have stopped
you from attaining your goal in life in the past years, God is going to break
them to pieces in a way that Satan can not put them back again. For I know the
plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and
not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29.11).
