Blessings God Promises Believers

Image
There are about 7000 promises in the Bible, I am told. I can not verify this! But I have picked up 64 and arranged them under seven titles.   These, I hope covers all conceivable human situations and will be useful for personal comfort or for teaching.             i.God’s Holiness Romans 5:10-11   Even when we were God’s enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. We are at peace with God, we will be saved by his Son’s life. We are happy because God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to make peace with us. James 1:12 God will bless you, if you don’t give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, just as he rewards everyone who loves him. Colossians 1:27 Christ lives in you and he is your hope of sharing in God’s glory. Proverbs   28:14 The Lord blesses everyone who is afraid to do evil. John 1:12   Whoever beli...

My Own Testimony

Image
The following is my own testimony, a brief account of how I came into the Lord. I have published it as my fiftieth blog essay. I will continue writing for the BLOG and I request you to follow me. I was born in a traditional Christian family in 1938. Both my parents were well educated and I had a strictly “religious” up bringing, but most of my childhood was spent in grinding poverty.    I studied our family history for 5 or 6 generations and was convinced that Christianity was the cause of our poverty! By the time I was 12 I had a thorough knowledge of the Bible and could quote from it any time, in two languages. By 20, I had read a lot about most of the world religions and philosophical thoughts of famous thinkers. By 25, I rejected organized religion and, along with that, God. I believed only wealth and wisdom could save mankind.   Those who possess these must share them with those who did not. God was not relevant any more, in this scientific era...

Keep You from Falling Away

Image
Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. (Jude 1:24 NLT) On what basis can we make it all the way to the glory of the next life and everything it includes? Does it all depend on us? Does it all depend on our ability to do what is right and avoid doing what is wrong? Not according to the Bible. The truth is, when a person is genuinely saved, he is saved for ever. I t all depends on God. It all depends on God's strength, not on ours. We will make it through to the end because God is strong. The awesome and Almighty Lord of heaven and earth who controls the destiny of all things can make sure that we stand firm to the end. He can make sure that we receive the three things promised in the above verse. If a person truly understands the Gospel of the grace of God, he will readily see that the one who is genuinely saved, is saved forever. That a believer is eternally secu...

The Word that Became Flesh

Image
JOHN 1:1, 1:14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. The   first-century Judean society was dominated by two conflicting cultural   groups--the Jewish natives with their ancient monotheistic religion and Moses’ law, and the Roman ruling class who had adopted the Greek culture and their multiple gods.    The Word was a term used by philosophers and theologians, both by the Greeks and the Jews, in different ways. In Hebrew scripture, the Word was an agent of creation ( Psalms 33:6), the source of God’s message to His people through the prophets and God’s law, His standard of holiness ( Hosea 4:1). For the Greek, the Word was the principle of reason that governed the world, God, to put it in another way. The idea of Word becoming flesh was disagreeable to ...
