GIVE US THIS DAY..

Every new day's dawn is a distinct blessing in our lives. Bearing in mind that this day might be our last  will  help us realize how precious every moment is. "The Lord's unfailing love and mercy still continue, fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise" asserted Jeremiah  (Lamentations 3:22-23). Isaiah 58:8 says "Then my favour will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side". I have arranged the following seven promises and the accompanying meditations to lead you through the week:

SUNDAY

Psalms 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

"Give us this day our daily bread'' Jesus taught us to pray. Every day He adds to our life is a special gift. To a believer who has commited his life to the Lord, every hour of the day is precious. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" believed the Psalmist (23:6). This is the day which the Lord has made and sanctified, as a season never to be forgotten. On that day, through faith, we triumph with Him, we rejoice and are glad in His salvation.

MONDAY

Proverbs 16:3 Ask the Lord to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.

Commit your works to the Lord, and seek Him for strength and assistance in every area of your life. Commit the business of the salvation of your  soul also wholly to Him, who is able, willing, and faithful, to keep what is committed to Him; and, having done so, you may rest and relax as one that is ridden of a burden by casting it on another, one who is better able to bear it, more equal to the work committed to Him. He causes everything to work together for good; and whatever is good and to God's glory shall be brought to pass.

TUESDAY

Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the Lord will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.

Where God had begun the work of grace, He will perfect it. He will help those who, in humble dependence on Him, help themselves.  In the strength of Divine grace their souls shall ascend above the world. They shall run the way of God's commandments cheerfully. If we go forth in our own strength, we shall faint, and fall; but having our hearts and our hopes in heaven, we shall be carried above all difficulties, and be enabled to lay hold of the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus.

WEDNESDAY

Jeremiah 29:11 I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

We sometimes wonder if God's designs are all for our benefit; but as His own people, even that which seems evil, turns out good! He will give us, not the expectations of their fears, or the expectations of their fancies, but the expectations of their faith;  He has promised the end will be the best for them. When the Lord pours out an especial spirit of prayer, it is a good sign that He is coming towards us in mercy. Promises are given to quicken and encourage prayer.

THURSDAY

Matthew 6:33 Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what He requires of you, and He will provide you with all these other things.

To "seek the kingdom of God above all else" means to put God first in your life, to fill your thoughts with His desires, to take your character for your pattern, and to serve and obey Him in everything. What is really important to you? People, objects, goals and other desires compete for priority. Any of these can quickly become most important to you if you don't actively choose to give God first place in every area of your life.

FRIDAY

Romans 12:1-2 ... offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to His service and pleasing to Him ... Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind.

God has good, pleasing, perfect plans for His children. He wants us to be transformed people with renewed minds living to obey and honor Him. Because He wants only what is best for us, because He gave His Son to make our new life possible, we should joyfully give ourselves as living sacrifices for His service.

SATURDAY

I Philippians 4:13 I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

The power which we receive through the union with Christ is sufficient to do His will and to face the challenges that arise from our commitment to doing it. He does not grant us superhuman ability to accomplish any thing we imagine without regard to His interests. As we contend for the faith we will face troubles, pressures and trials. As they come, we must ask Christ to strengthen us.

IN CONCLUSION

Luke 1:78-79 Our God is merciful and tender. He will cause the bright dawn of salvation to rise on us and to shine from heaven on all those who live in the dark shadow of death,     to guide our steps into the path of peace.
